Demon Earth: A Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy Setting
In the near future, something goes terribly wrong on Earth. A nuclear explosion triggers a series of changes in the laws of physics. Of course no one knows that happened. Everyone experiences electronic devices shutting down, cars stopping, and planes falling out of the sky.
RPG fans can think of it as somewhere to the realistic side of an extreme post-apocalypse fantasy like Chaos Earth or Rifts RPG, or Gamma World for the old-school gamers.
Things begin to get really strange for confused survivors. But with no modern transport or communication word of odd atmospheric phenomena, and animals, cannot spread.
About 20 years later, there are more odd animals, and plants, and worse things. Some of those things have organized raids to either take land or capture slaves. Mercenaries hired from ... somewhere else help stop the demonic assault on what used to be Mexico, and are let go. One of the newly unemployed, goes out on his own, to keep fighting the demons.
I'll be creating and posting world-building notes (creatures, organizations, a timeline, etc.) as time permits. (Note that my novel mss and screenplay Demonlands use this setting, 25 years after the Apocalypse.)
Other Story Options:
We could follow a group of people from just before the Collapse, to the first odd encounters a couple of months later. Think Jericho with demons and sorcery appearing for the first time.
There could be a military campaign decades later, as humans and allies put together a real war machine and go on the offensive.
A story or two could be set long after the Collapse, a couple of hundred years perhaps.
I'll be adding details about the setting, including organizations, monsters, ecology, and new technology. Stay tuned.
